Traveling Through Europe by Wheelchair With Eurostar
If you are in a wheelchair and are planning on taking a trip through Europe by train, not to worry. Eurostar accommodates those with special needs so that you too can enjoy the wonderful Europe countryside. You can go to many popular travel destinations in a wheelchair with Eurostar. Eurostar travels from London to Paris and mostly every city in between.
Travel Preparations:
When you are preparing your travels with Eurostar by wheelchair, there are a few things you must know. You must have current traveling documentation such as passport and tickets to your destination. Also, there are only 2 assigned spots for wheelchair users on every train. This includes one space for the wheelchair and one space for someone riding with the wheelchair user. This is why you should let Eurostar know when purchasing your tickets that you will be needing the indicated space. Remember that Eurostar does not have access to wheelchairs so, do not forget to bring yours with you. You should notify Eurostar of your intended wheelchair travels within 2 days of your travel date to ensure the best service possible.
Purchasing Special Accommodation Tickets:
When you are purchasing your special accommodation tickets, you will be offered a discount rate. It is also important that your special accommodation tickets are purchased ahead of time. This allows Eurostar to prepare for your arrival on the train. The seat next to the wheelchair space is provided for a companion to the wheelchair user and is also discounted.
Wheelchair Train Access:
There is a ramp provided at the train door which is just outside from the assigned wheelchair area so access to the train is easy. Just down the hall from the assigned wheelchair seating area, is a special access bathroom. The bathroom is large and provides enough space for a wheelchair to move around in. It is equipped with a toiled that was specially designed with disabled passengers in mind. Both the seating area and bathroom contain call buttons connected to train staff in case of an emergency.
Class Travel Options:
The two travel options available for those with a wheelchair include standard premier or business premier. While there is no difference in cost, the business premier is a little more leisurely. It may provide service at a slightly higher level suited for those who are traveling on business and require, a little more.
What to Expect During Your Wheelchair Travels With Eurostar:
Your purchased tickets include alcohol or non-alcoholic beverages to your preference. First class service from professional train staff is to be expected as well. Of course, you have to know about the hot meals that are served. You will be sure to get your daily intake of vitamins with Three courses. To better accommodate your meal, there are rear seat detachable tables that can be adjusted to suit your wheelchair height needs.
Service for wheelchair users can be expected to be top notch with Eurostar. Upon arrival, you will have an attendant waiting to help you through the process. This will include helping you to go through customs and boarding the train. If you need to switch trains at any point, someone will be there to help you with that too. Above all else, you can be sure that you will travel in style with the best service available when traveling by wheelchair on Eurostar.
